Any Way You Slice
It
Former grip/electric Joe Evreniadis, has invented the
Gel Cutter for cutting larger quantities of gels with greater precision in less
time by a single operator. The Gel Cutter is designed like a handtruck, with two
flat-resistant wheels. It is constructed of a 12"x59" PVC cutting board
mounted on a wood frame and supported by collapsible aluminum-tubing legs that
facilitate easy storage.
An aluminum bridge runs vertically along parallel stainless-steel
tracks located at each end of the cutting board. Mounted onto the side of the
bridge is a single |
|
stainless-steel track
that extends along the width of the cutting board. Sliding on this horizontal
axis is the cutting module. The cutting module, which uses a #19 Exacto cutting
blade, has 360° of motion and can be held in place anywhere along the horizontal
track by tightening a knurled knob at its top. This combination provides two axes
of motion to the cutter, allowing for gels to be cut in any size and shape.
Gels are threaded into the Gel Cutter under the bridge
and held in place by rollers. The dual-axis bridge can then be manipulated by
the operator to cut the |
|
gel quickly into the sizes
desired. More than one layer of gel can be cut at a time for efficiency, ach piece
accurately cut to 1/8". For bigger gel pieces (greater than 12"x59"),
the cutting module is locked in place, and the gel sheet is pulled off the roll
toward the operator as the cut is made.
